Clothing

Its amazing the different things people wear when going out.

Guys manage to incorporate casual into their outfit by wearing a nice shirt with jeans and it takes about 2 seconds to get ready with the lead up being pulling on the clothes and taking a chemical shower (doasing themselves in deodorant rather then actually showering).

This doesn't go for all guys some of them spend more time in the bathroom preening then woman do so both types exist but the ready in 2 seconds tends to be (in my experience) how it works.

Mens Typical Outfit includes...

This is because clubs have dress codes.Your not allowed thongs, bordies, singlets, trakkies or any other casual item except for jeans as long as they arn't completely scrubbed.

Here is the comparison, girls when going out pull out the heels, hair curlers/straighteners, makeup, dresses and any other tool to make themselves appealing.

They will spend hours in front of the mirror before having a big night out. This just like the guys is a stereotype some girls couldn't care less and just wear anything comfortable but the majority of woman aim to look their best when hitting up a club.

Typical woman's outfit:

The funny thing is that after all this effort all it takes is a few drinks before girls can't walk on their heels and are falling all over the place and are hating themselves for not wearing something way more comfortable.

I don't know what the relevance of all this is but I just noticed it the other night when out what I was wearing compared to some guys and I don't know I just found it funny.

Leave a comment to let me know what you wear out. Are you like me, a stereotypical girl who dresses up or maybe a stereotypical guy who doesn't? Maybe your the complete opposite.

More pick up lines:p

People seem to love the pick up line blog I wrote before so continuing on that note here is a video anamation thing I found on youtube that I thought was pretty funny that incorporates some pretty good lines...well most of the time.

WARNING DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED!!!

It's not offencive as such, especially by todays standards anyway but its got a bit of inuendo type of thing. SO if you are an extreame feminist or anything you may want to avoid.:)

So what do you guys think?
Would these actualy work and have you ever used one? Comment and let me know.

SCHOOLIES!!!

Biggest party of the year!

Once school is out and all of the year 12's are finally released from the confines of school, a large proportion of them head to the Gold Coast to drink, bum around and just do whatever they want. There are a few different Schoolies locations but the Gold Coast turns out the biggest crowd year after year.

Thousands of teenagers go and it hits the news every single year to worry the parents and show teenagers as deviants and basically fuel the moral panic about binge drinking.

There is also a version of schoolies known as Coasties but that no where near as exciting. Its just people heading down to the east coast which anyone can do in any of the holidays and has nothing on the Gold Coast. It has concerts and about 5000 teenagers -> sounds like a party to me!

It is held over 3 weeks and each week is designated for a different state so people can party with their friends.

Week 1 is for the students of Queensland, as their exams finish first.
Week 2 is generally for New South Wales and week 3 is for Victorian graduates.

This is not set you don't have to be from these states to go on that week. You can go any time you want but a lot of people have said it is more fun to go with people you know or live near. Maybe because that way there is a chance of seeing them again?

Anyway if anyone is thinking of organising a Schoolies trip after year 12 this site has all you need:

http://www.schoolies.com/2009/?ref=mnhome

(Again it won't work and become a proper link sorry but I'm sure everyone knows how to copy and paste:p)

It has all you need to know plus good places to stay, how far it is to the city and beaches, FAQ's, the works so if your thinking of hitting up Schoolies, check out the site!

Tax part deux

Leading on from the last post,
I forgot to mention that they decided to scrap the tax earlier this year!
YAY! This drops the prices of alcopops that were $5 down to $2 per bottle!
Massive price reduction!

Maybe this will also drop the sales of spirits as teens will convert back to the RTDs as statistics I found showed the plan worked to some extent because after the tax was brought in, premixed drinks dropped in sales by 70%.
The Governments plan was working
...
Too bad at the same time full strength spirit sales went up by 68%!
Hmmm anyone else think they're related?

Anyway we're back to normally priced alcohol...think your safe...NO!
Mr Kevin Rudd PM decides he wants to stick to his guns and is attempting to bring the tax back in! OMG leave us alone!

Alcopops Tax

Okay now to the issues...

Thanks to K-Rudd, all premixed drinks were subject to a tax hike last year....

Thanks buddy!

These drinks were labelled "alcopops", a term the government came up with to specifically brand the drinks. No one had heard of an "alcopop" before last year. Instead they were all known as premixers, RTD - ready to drink, lolly water or something to do with it being a girly drink -> this being something a real man would never drink....but secretly love:)

This tax increased the prices of RTD's by 70%. This could be anywhere between 30c - $1.30 PER BOTTLE!!! (depending on how much alcohol the drink contains/ how many standard drinks are in the bottle). Sure this is a great concept for 50-60year olds who think that that is the problem and if you make alcopops unaffordable, it will eliminate binge drinking...HAHAHA
I'm glad you know what your doing Mr Rudd
Now as much as the current generation has been labelled as stupid, they are not entirely and the majority of them turned to spirits, goon or beer=> all the alcohol that wasn't effected by the tax.
Why wouldn't you?

To buy three 4packs of cruisers or other premixed drinks you spend around $40 right? That is 12 standard drinks which are generally consumed quite quickly.
To buy a 1L of Smirnoff Vodka it is around $40 as well yet you get 40 standard drinks...much better value!

One of the major reasons why teens drink is to get drunk and that is a lot easier to do when mixing your own spirits that will ultimately get you drunker with more drinks per bottle, save you money because you don't have to buy as often and gives the individual the power over how much alcohol is in each drink.

Time Changes Everything

It's amazing how much society has changed and developed in all aspects over the years.
Fashion is one thing that changes constantly, every few months there is a new fad in the shops.
Recently it has been the Mr men and little miss t-shirts and jumpers, before that (like 2 years before that) it was fluoro and it was everywhere! ugly ugly clothes (yet I must admit I do own a pair of fluoro pink shorts but it was for a costume I swear) and these fads are usually recycled fashion from earlier times.

After a few months everyone has moved on from the fad and a new one has taken its place.
A fad that has been popular for years, that personally I love and I don't think will ever be forgotten, are glow sticks!
Who knows why but they are so entertaining!
They appear a lot at raves because it trips out the ravers to look at the lights (same as the lasers) they also appear at parties, same as raves really but alcohol has a different effect on the brain to drugs.

Another teen party accessory tends to be in the form of an pre-mixer. Easy to transport and most taste like lolly water so very easy to drink as the alcohol content is not scorching the inside of your throat unlike straight spirits.

Parties of the 1900's had very different accessories. It was considered very unladylike to get drunk, anything more then tipsy was frowned upon. The fashionable accessories included masks, hats, some form of lace and a very feminine dress. It's very different now as the girls drink to match the boys, they wear very casual clothes and its considered a good night if you can't remember what happened...times have surely changed.

Failed Pick Up Lines

Okay another issue that tends to include alcohol is pickup lines
from the ones that actually work (the oh so rare) to the stupid/ lame and just embarrassing to hear we've all heard or used them these are some memorable ones...

The lame...
1. You make my software turn to hardware!
2.My name isn't Elmo, but you can tickle me any time you want to
3.Do you have a map? I just keep on getting lost in your eyes.

The funny...
1. I suffer from amnesia. Do I come here often?

Ones no one would go for/ no one gets...
1. You're ugly but you intrigue me
2.Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?
3. You smell like new shoes
4.Your eyes are as blue as my toilet water at home.

seriously pick up the game!

The ones that just make you feel sorry for them...
1. I'm easy. Are you?

and the ones that could possibly work...if only for a few minutes..and if only for them to laugh at you...
1. I bet you $20 you're gonna turn me down.
2. Kiss me if I am wrong, but isn't your name Gwadalumpe?

but honestly boys in my opinion they don't work
the girls may laugh
but then think your a tool and never go near you again...its true
even if your drinking
restrict your use of the dreaded pickup lines as they can be...to say the least horrible!

Perceptions of Youth

Okay,

We were talking about perceptions of youth in sociology today and the one thing that the class came up with was that the main perception of youth came from the media

Bloody media, pigeonholes everyone in society no matter what the topic whether it be religion to youth to I donno swine flu, what ever there is always something to say or to criticize

Now I was watching TV the other night and they had a where are they now type of thing and who was on it? who else but Corey Worthington. Remember him? The 16 year old who threw a party, had 15 minutes of fame managed to aid the media in pigeonholing all youth and has now disappeared as he hasn't done anything since. I don't now about anyone else but he 5)-(!+5 me!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_m-G2fCCY0

Thing is that Corey didn't actually want any of this to happen. He organised a party yes but it was supposed to be for 50 tops (according to him) well until it got onto the Internet and 500 people showed. That wasn't him, that was his friends but he was portrayed as a wild party boy who didn't care by the reporters. He was kicked out of home and hunted by every form of media for interviews from this deviant youth. He even appeared on Big Brother as they were after the wild, crazed party boy to help boost the ratings (even though that would never happen as BB failed after season 1...thank god it has finally been taken off the air...hopefully ten will get the hint and cancel other shows everyone seems to hate...Aus Idol anyone?) anyway Big Brother failed miserably in that regard as Corey went into the house and was quiet and really boring. He obeyed the rules and left after a week making no effect on anyone except the parents of this great nation.

The media, when broadcasting the Corey Worthington story, were mainly targeting parents and adults. Mine (and I'm sure many others) fell for it hook line and sinker. Mum now believes that all parties turn into brawls, raves, sex centres, chimneys (ie smokers), drag races and whatever else supposedly goes on...lets just stereotype then shall we?

Sure that describes a minority of society's youth like .0000001% and that's the stuff that makes the news, no one wants to hear about the teen who went out, had a few, came home and went to bed.

They want to hear about the P plater who was high and was in a police chase because he was caught doing 240 km in a 80 zone ~ that's the stuff that makes the news and why not? Very few would watch the news if there was nothing controversial on it and journalists would lose their jobs. Shocking stories are what sells to the public, that is what the media portrays and that's why they fund shows like ACA and Today tonight...because apparently someone watches them...?

But anyway Mum is convinced that sort of stuff happens here... well Mum, hate to break it to you, but this is CANBERRA!!! The capital of boring! (although I do love it) The biggest event Canberra ever sees is the Teddy Bears Picnic (I hear it goes off!) seriously something that goes really wrong at a party would happen in like 1 in 200 its not that common so stop stressing!

Yet youths are still stuck as the angsty, angry, drunk and disorderly part of society but that is what a teenager has been defined as for generations and I'm sure many more to come, maybe its just a bit more extreme? Who knows

Anyway back to Corey and where is he now?

Who cares???

No one did then and no one does now except for the parents and other adults in society that have decided that we must be stopped...this includes the Government of Australia who decided that the way to stop youth acting out was to stop binge drinking which is all caused by alcopops

Haha FAIL K-Rudd! but that's another story...

This one for the boys

Alright,

Now my friend went to a party on the weekend and got picked up by a totally DESPERATE guy!!!

now the guys pretty awesome but always so damn desparate!

anyway so he is basically begging her and using really sleezy pick up lines

This poses the question of what is acceptable and when should people take no for an answer?

okay well this ones for the boys...

1. sometimes persistance pays off, and it has been drilled into all of humanity that if they want to get something they must try and try again but honestly...mostly to the boys...sometimes it just doesn't work!!!

2. boys, when a girl looks like this...>>>
SHE NOT LOOKING TO HOOK UP!!!

3. when should a guy know when to give up well when a girl isn't answering your texts, walking away from any group you join and basically using any excuse to get away from you...and your hearing no and not going to happen until hell freezes over...it generally is time to cut your losses and move on to the next lucky lady

Thanks boy please take the advice and know when to give up!
